Over time, your hardwood floors can become dull and lackluster. This is often due to the fact that they need a deep cleaning. Mopping and sweeping will help rid your hardwood floors of surface dirt but do little to remove dirt hiding deep within the cracks and crevices of your floors. This is one time where having the right equipment and wood cleaners is of utmost importance.
Improve the Air Quality of Your Home
The dirt trapped in your hardwood floors does more than just make your floors look dull and tired. It can be a health hazard as well. If you have family members with allergies or asthma, this dirt can add to the toxic indoor environment that includes dust mites and pollen.
Ensuring that your floors receive a deep cleaning will help the air quality and air circulation within your home. This means everyone can breathe a little easier.
Hardwood floor cleaning will require a professional deep cleaning, but there are ways to keep your floors as clean as possible in between professional cleanings.
Steps to Keep Your Hardwood Floors Looking Great
Be sure not to use oil soap or wax on your hardwood floors. These types of products can compromise the integrity of your floors. In turn, this will make keeping them clean a more difficult process.
Humidity is not your friend, and your hardwood floors truly don’t like it. By keeping indoor humidity levels stable, you can avoid shrinking or swelling floors. You will also want to be sure any rugs you place on your floor do not have a rubber backing. This can lock in moisture which will damage your flooring.

Before we got our new flooring upstairs, I was just fed up with the old carpeting and I pulled it up and we walked on plywood like yours all summer. It sure made us appreciate the new flooring when we finally put it down. Our downstairs is hardwood and I LOVE it! You will love yours too, when you get it installed. It is so easy to take care of. Sorry about your leak, but it was a great way to get new flooring!!!
I had carpet in my house growing up so when the first house I bought had hardwood floor I was completely baffled as to how to keep it looking nice. Wish I had these tips back then. Thanks for the great advice.
